Teaching Music in the Home

The hills are alive with the sound of music, and the role of this beautiful element in our home is profound. It is of equal priority to the other core subjects. Perhaps that's not the best model for all homeschools, and I don't necessarily endorse it, however it works for our family. I have my degree in vocal performance, I feel it is important, and if my kids don't like it, they should have come to a different family because that's just what we do!

In the following articles I share some insights on how this subject is taught in our home.

Violin for Toddlers

Music for Preschoolers

Beginning Rhythm for Preschoolers

The Kodaly Method

Homemade Instruments

I have also launched a second website that focuses purely on on this second passion of mine. You will find resources for children of all ages, not just preschoolers and babies, and is written for teachers and parents alike. It is still relatively new, but check it out!
